"Last year in the U.S. alone, more than nine hundred thousand people were reported missing and not found... That's out of three hundred million, total. That breaks down to about one person in three hundred twenty-five vanishing. Every year... Maybe it's a coincidence, but it's almost the same loss ratio experienced by herd animals on the African savannah to large predators."

Sounds about right.

  1. Interesting. I'm a new blogger here. I haven't gotten a chance to look around much other than zerosage (R.I.P.) and M. Also, have you heard from Kay at all?

    1. I went to her house back in April, except it's not her house anymore. The guy who lives there now moved in in January, and the whole thing was arranged through a broker. He has no idea who Kay is, let alone where she is. As a result, neither do I.

    1. It's hard to tell if you know something I don't, or if you're just spouting cryptic bugfuckery.

Sort of rooting for the former, if only because I'll take every information source I can find, at this point.

  3. @ Moe: That makes little to no sense.
@ Hakueri: I hope Kay is alright. We've lost far to many to that monstrosity. Also, It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance.

    1. If you haven't been recording events yourself, you can't expect me to know what's happening if you just come here in a blind panic.

Take a seat, calm down, and elaborate please. If it's only just starting, you're not in any actual danger just yet.

    2. Sorry. Okay, I started learning about Him a month or two ago. I've been archive binging the blogs trying to stay caught up. About a week or so ago, I started having nightmares. He was always there, and they get worse every night. And yesterday, after I got off my bus, I saw Him, maybe ten feet into the treeline. My head started to hurt, and I ran, and came here for help. while I was waiting, an overwhelming sense of exhaustion struck me, and I fell Into the worst nightmare I've had as of yet. I can't become a Runner, I've got an obligation to see through, but as soon as that's finished, I'll run. Until then, is there anything I can do to stay "safe" from Him?

    3. For general safety, go to The Tutorial. It's not foolproof, but it's excellent guidelines, and I would definitely stress the part about staying in crowded areas. If your only goal is to stay alive, you could turn yourself into a mental asylum. I've never seen a case where a runner there has died, even after years and years. But if you're looking for more quality of life with just a bit more risk, talk to M.

For the mental aspect, if you're read my blog you should know this. Notice details around you, but don't get paranoid. Trust others - it's not worth the erosion to your sanity to suspect everyone - but don't give out personal information or agree to meet anywhere that isn't very very public. Confront your fears, but do so indirectly, under controlled settings. And above all, don't think of yourself as a victim, because you're not. You're a runner. There's a difference.

      You're only a victim when you're dead.

    4. Yeah, I'd say M has been a big help to Runners everywhere, even if he can't see it. My main problem is that I can't run yet. My "obligation" requires me to stay here for an indefinite amount of time, and the asylum idea is out. Once I'm finished though, I'm out of here. Thanks for the help, Hakurei. If you ever need help, I'd gladly return the favor.

  8. As to your comment on how we're runners not victims, it reminds me of something I once heard about the diffference between being dragged to the gallows and walking there with your head held high.

  9. It makes me sad, reading all these. The proxies or the thing itself took out everyone I should look to for advice. Everyone I need to talk to to prepare. If I had been a year earlier. . . Maybe my idea will work, maybe I can end this. Maybe I could have helped you all. Mail me, runners still running. I'll want all the help I can get.
